Are you a budding animal professional who loves sharing the “why” behind wildlife conservation? At North Georgia Wildlife Park, we believe that every animal has a story and every keeper is a storyteller. We are looking for an energetic, entry-level Zookeeper to join our team. Unlike traditional “behind-the-scenes” roles, this position is at the heart of our mission: connecting people and animals. You won’t just be cleaning habitats and prepping diets; you’ll be the bridge between our diverse animal collection and our curious guests.

Our Diverse Collection

You’ll gain hands-on experience with a wide taxonomic range, including:

  • Mammals: Small primates, hoofstock, and native carnivores.
  • Birds: Raptors, psittacines, and softbills.
  • Ectotherms: A robust collection of reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates used for educational programming.

Key Responsibilities

  • Husbandry & Care: Perform daily cleaning, feeding, and enrichment for a designated string of animals, ensuring the highest standards of animal welfare.
  • Public Engagement: Supporting our guest experience team and participating with animal encounters and other educational opportunities
  • Observation & Record Keeping: Monitor animal health and behavior, maintaining detailed logs in our record keeping software
  • Habitat Maintenance: Assist in the maintenance and upkeep of naturalistic exhibits that serve both animal needs and educational aesthetics.
  • Team Collaboration: Work alongside our Education Department to develop new ways to inspire environmental stewardship in our visitors.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Zoology, Biology, Wildlife Management, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Experience: Previous internship or volunteer experience in animal husbandry
  • Communication:  Public speaking skills and a genuine enthusiasm for interacting with guests of all ages.
  • Physical Ability: Must be able to lift 50 lbs, work in all weather conditions, and remain on your feet for extended periods.
  • Mindset: A “team-first” attitude and a passion for lifelong learning.
